So the day is spent trying to get the Britten piece finished, combined with an attempt to get some corrections for Walker done, all before tomorrow morning. As the work goes on it transpires that I might have more time than that, an eventuality that one can’t plan for. The result is a bit like that shot in Poltergeist where the corridor gets longer and longer as the woman runs down it. Presumably a solid deadline must appear eventually, unless Xeno is responsible for the timetable, in which case it might take forever.
In the evening there is a rehearsal for the … quintet, I suppose, at the moment. It goes OK, but I haven’t really been working on that material, and the set-up that I’m using (Power Engine with the Tech21 acoustic DI going into it) doesn’t really have the tone for the job. Most importantly, when I’m soloing I don’t really have the “push” that I need, and find myself picking too hard and tripping over runs. I really need to do a lot of work on this, as I do on everything else. Another rehearsal next week, then another appearance in the bar downstairs, the new landlady of the Three Stags willing.
