A Thomas Dolby track comes up - Commercial Breakup - I listen specifically to the (double tracked) guitar part all the way through. I imagine the stress that the guitarist (Kevin Armstrong) must have been feeling to get all these bits right, one after another, twice. Or at least the stress that I would have been feeling if it had been me. Quite informative to listen to, though. If there was ever a single accompanying instrument - a strummed guitar or a piano or something - it was removed at some point. I'm still at the point where I tend to leave that sort of thing in when I do an arrangement. But that part contains most of the harmony anyway, resulting in Overeggy Pudding (everyone's least favourite dessert). Something to bear in mind for the future.
Must read that Nelson Riddle book again.
More Domestic Stuff - washing, ironing, that sort of thing. Faced with housework, would Sisyphus have asked for his boulder back? You know where you are with a boulder.
(Underneath it if you don't get out of the way pretty sharpish.)
Joe comes round in the afternoon and we scan in some photographs for his cover. he's very adamant that it doesn't look "computery", which is a bit tric seeing as it's on a computer. We manage to make some progress, even if we don't finish it.
Will and Jezzer pick me up and we go over to Phil's for Brel night. Phil's selling his house soon and wanted to get The Boys together for a meal or something (not realising that a meal was involved, I ate before I left, but then it was chicken, so that was OK). But with a soundtrack almost exclusively of Brel (and, for some reason, one Unit Four Plus Two single). Nice evening.
Back very late.
